The Mustang #8

The Mustang #8

Part of the Matchbox original lineup series 1-75, the Mustang number 8 became one of the most known model of the this series.

Produced between 1967 and 1970, this casting captured the aggressive fastback silhouette that made the real Mustang an icon of American performance culture. A truly recognizable model, very detailed and inspired by the true legend with white shiny paint and red interiors.

But what made this particular model especially memorable was the impressive functionality and playability for its scale:

A small lever positioned on the left side allowed the front wheels to steer — a rare and innovative feature for its time. Beyond that, the model also included working suspension and a rear tow hook, adding an extra layer of play value and mechanical charm that collectors still appreciate today.

With its long hood, short rear deck, and unmistakable stance, the #8 Mustang Fastback remains a cornerstone piece for collectors who appreciate the golden era of die-cast design.
